Unbound Released
A new recursive and caching DNS server named Unbound has been released by NLnet Labs, VeriSign, Inc., Nominet, and Kirei. According to the press release:
Unbound is a validating, recursive, and caching DNS server designed as a high-performance alternative for BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Domain). Unbound will be supported by NLnet Labs.
The creators of Unbound place a heavy focus on DNSSEC, a security extension to DNS that was supposed to increase security. DNSSEC has suffered many delays and it is questionable that it will ever be deployed on a large scale (or should be).
Unbound is released under the BSD license.
